Young couple carjacked in Wendy's drive-thru: Thug pulls man out, drives off with woman
An evening fast food run turned into a nightmare Sunday, when a carjacker attacked a young couple at a Wendy's drive-thru in north Houston.
The suspect struck as the 21-year-old male driver and 19-year-old female passenger waiting for food in their Chevrolet Avalanche, according to KTRK Ch. 2.
The woman remained inside as the suspect led area law enforcement on a chase across Beltway 8 and I-45.
Investigators say that the male carjacker punched out the driver's side window and forced the male victim out of the vehicle. The driver attempted to get back into the SUV, but was dragged through the parking lot until he lost his grip.
The woman remained stuck inside the SUV with the carjacker as he led area law enforcement on a chase across Beltway 8 and I-45 that ended with a crash on West Road. Once the Avalanche was stopped, the woman ran from the car to police. She's reportedly unharmed.
The suspect, who refused to exit, was cajoled out of the vehicle with the help of a K-9 unit and a Taser. He remains in custody on charges of evading arrest and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The original driver of the SUV suffered a series of bruises and cuts from the initial attack, but is expected to recover.
