Shooting at area college: School on lockdown and several victims reported
Area news outlets are reporting a campus shooting at Lone Star College's North Harris branch, just northwest of Bush International Airport.
According to KHOU Ch. 11, much of the activity has been centered around the library, where one male victim — an alleged suspect — was spotted being removed on a stretcher in handcuffs. Two others have been shot, including an employee of the college who was shot in the leg.
At least a dozen law enforcement officers from the Harris County Sheriff's Office and other local agencies are searching a wooded area north of campus for another potential suspect.
While details are sketchy, witnesses are telling KHOU that they heard five shots in the vicinity of the library. The incident appears to have started around 12:30 p.m. with an argument between two men, according to students at the scene.
Campus officials are confirming that the school is on lockdown; students are allowed to leave, but no others can enter. The school's website has an alert on its front page urging people to shelter in place.
