Where the traffic ticket hot spots are: State troopers love to lurk in certainlocales
Anyone who hit the road over the holidays knows that the only thing worse than dealing with holiday crowds on the highways is the proliferation of blue and red police lights.
(What, a speeding ticket isn't what you wanted for Christmas?)
Texas Watchdog tallied up all the tickets issued in 2011 by the Texas Department of Public Safety and found which areas the state trooper like to hang out in. Not surprisingly, Texas' big cities had the highest concentration of tickets, with the Houston area coming in second only to the Valley and before metropolitan Dallas and Austin.
Within Houston, what's the most dangerous area for speedsters? Klein and northwest Harris County. According to Texas Watchdog, troopers issued 7,950 tickets within the 10-mile area around Klein, including on Highway 249 and Interstate 45.
Of course, these numbers only reflect numbers from state troopers and don't include citations written by local police or sheriffs.
So maybe your new year's resolutions should include slowing down.
