The movers and shakers, power players and influentials turned out in force for the farewell bash saluting Laura Spanjian, who recently stepped down from her position as the first director of the first Office of Sustainability.
Anne Whitlock and Michael Skelley opened historic Fire Station #2, which they restored to call home, for the bash where both Mayor Annise Parker and State Rep. Carol Alvarado sang Spanjian's praises and issued proclamations in her honor.
The native Californian moved to the city five years ago to take the lead in the city's sustainability effort. She will be staying in Houston with vacation rental company Airbnb as its southwest regional public policy lead.
The heavy-hitter crowd included Central Houston Inc. president Bob Eury and wife Gayle, city parks director Joe Turner, State Sen. Rodney Ellis, Harris County prosecutor Kelli Johnson, Hermann Park Conservancy executive director Doreen Stoller, Memorial Park Conservancy CEO Shellye Arnold, Mayor's Office of Special Events honcho Susan Christian, Kathy Hubbard, Andrea White and Elyse Lanier.
Also in the mix were Angie Bertinot, Kelly Gale Amen, Kim Ogg, Ernest Walker, Steve Costello, Anne Clutterbuck, Sue Lovell, Lindsay Brown and Chris Shepherd and Kathryn McNiel.
