Amazing Apps
New app helps you find the perfect place to live in the U.S.A.
For many people, where they live is where they were born, where they found a job or where love led. But in an age of increasing technology, why not let it decide where you'll rest your head?
Dwellr, a new app from the U.S. Census Bureau, matches users to new addresses through a series of questions ranging from basic information (age and gender) to more complicated measures (preferred landscape and mode of transportation). The app even takes into account your dream job, ideal weather and the age of most of your friends.
Dwellr is the latest move by the Census Bureau aimed at digital engagement. The free app, available on iTunes and Google Play, is powered by information from the American Community Survey and produces a list of 25 suitable cities after an 11-question quiz.
Users that land on Houston have a penchant for big city life, a warm climate and a diverse population. The app saves your preferences and lets you quiz your friends as well. You can post your results to Facebook and Twitter to see how your city matches line up with others.
For those of you who might bristle at turning over even more information to the government, the Census Bureau says it does not collect or retain any information entered in the Dwellr app.
