Let's Talk
Ballroom buzzes with lively discussion at Art of Conversation luncheon
What: City ArtWorks presents The Art of Conversation.
Where: Junior League of Houston.
The scoop: A wide variety of Houston influencers with a gift of gab spent their lunch hour with enthralled guests at the annual fundraiser that benefits City ArtWorks, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support art education in Houston schools. A noted expert, in fields including law, the arts, sports, business, and society, sat at each of 25 tables and kept the conversation going by fielding questions and generating lively discussions that kept the ballroom buzzing.
Among the conversationalists were Harris County district attorney Kim Ogg, Consul General of Spain Enric Panés Calpe, Menil Collection director Rebecca Rabinow, The Pass & Provisions co-owner/chef Seth Siegel-Gardner, Hermann Park Conservancy director Doreen Stoeller, philanthropist Becca Cason Thrash, Bryan Museum founder J.P. Bryan, attorney Roland Garcia, Channel 11 meteorologist David Paul, Houston Forensic Science Center supervisor Ashley Henry, Habitat House owner Selia Qynn, Neiman Marcus PR manager Stacey Swift, Alley Theatre company artist Todd Waite, and CultureMap editor-in-chief Clifford Pugh.
Before the gabfest began, business executive and arts advocate Mandy Kades was honored for her support of City ArtWorks and other charitable causes.
Chairs Jereann Chaney, Karli Gillum, and Nancy Marcus Golden were thrilled that close to $90,000 was raised for children’s arts in education programs.
