Former Houston Astros slugger Carlos Lee is keeping his rep as a million dollar man with the recent sale of his Sugar Land mansion for $1.56 million, less than the 1.9 million Lee originally sought for the 9,117-square-foot residence.
Built in 1991, the house boasts wrought-iron staircases, arched doorways and windows and hardwood flooring throughout. Highlights include large formals, a chef's kitchen with additional prep area, wood-paneled library and family room with soaring ceilings. The game room is located on the second story.
Outside, the swimming pool is the focus in the backyard. The grounds extend to an expansive lawn — large enough for a little sandlot play.
Of course, Lee rather infamously landed a six-year, $100 million contract with the Astros. During his professional career, he hit 17 career grand slams, ranking him seventh in MLB history in that specific category, which ties him with legends Jimmie Foxx and Ted Williams.
The first baseman/outfielder retired in 2013 with a .285 career average and 358 career home runs.
