More than 300 Houston high-fliers, still excited over Wednesday night's Astros World Series Championship win, turned out for The Founders Festival presented by The Cannon.
The event showcased Houston's startup and creative community by featuring some of the city's top up-and-coming entrepreneurs, including CultureMap's nine profiled power players, from James Phelan of Plāsyn, which pairs businesses that need short-term workspace with hosts that have that space, to Gordon Taylor whose ride-sharing app, Croozen, connects riders and drivers going on long distance trips.
The evening was hosted by CEO and founder of The Cannon, Lawson Gow.The Cannon, a new 17-acre coworking campus in West Houston, aims to bring together a diverse business community, provide opportunities for companies to raise capital, participate in an incubator program, and attract top talent.
Lively tunes by DJ Impact and coffee from 9th Hour Coffee gave Astros fans, up late celebrating, a boost as they enjoyed interactive demonstrations from participating innovators including a gift-giving quiz from Katy Aucoin and dearduck, a company that delivers hyper-personalized gift recommendations to ensure you make the best choices.
The fun also included pics by Smilebooth, bites from Aces of Taste, Dolce Neve, Peli Peli, Ramen Tatsu-Ya, and The Tasting Room, and drinks from Cinco Vodka, No Label Brewery, and Seersucker Southern Style Gin.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Hurricane Harvey relief fund at local nonprofit Casa de Esperanza.
