Bayou Preservation Association celebrates 50th anniversary with a bluesy good time
What: Bayou Preservation Association 50th Anniversary.
Where: The home of Colleen Holthouse.
The scoop: The good times rolled at the lovely Holthouse home on Buffalo Bayou as the Bayou Preservation Association, a non-profit organization whose mission it is to celebrate, protect and restore the natural richness of Houston's bayous and streams, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a bluesy good time.
Upon entering, the more than 350 guests were serenaded by blues musician Andrew Karnakas. Servers dressed as the Blues Brothers, Memphis mule cocktails, and Gulf Coast and Cajun-style cuisine stayed true to the evening’s "Blues on The Bayou" theme.
The evening of philanthropy, awareness, and dancing to tunes by the band KAOS was a big success, raising more than $175,000, thanks to the work of event chairs Lindley Arnoldy and Brittany Cassin.
