Rodeo supporters turn out to honor five energetic women who are real Trailblazers
In H-Town, it's never too early to start rodeoing. Case in point, the recent Trailblazer Committee reception announcing the 2016 honorees.
Exhibiting more energy than the Energizer Bunny, the five women are being recognized for their volunteer efforts on multiple committees and a dedication the HLS&R, exemplified in their commitment of time, talent and generosity.
A heft group of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo supporters turned out for the reception that introduced Trailblazer Award honorees — Jonnie Steffek of Lady Lambs and Lamb and Goat Auction committees; Marilyn DeMontrond of the Junior Rodeo and International committees; Tricia Koch of the Livestock and Scholarship Administration committees; Carol Sawyer of the Armed Forces Appreciation, Wine Sales & Events and Rodeo Uncorked! committees; and Kathleen Williams of the Premium Seating and Speakers committees.
The five women will be saluted closer to the rodeo at the Trailblazer luncheon and fashion show January 29 at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
Rodeo honchos in the mix included president and COE Joel Cowley, vice president and CEO Dan Cheney, vice president and officer in charge of the Trailblazer Committee Sharleen Walkoviak, Trailblazer Committee chair Gretchen Gilliam and Executive Committee member Keith Steffeck.
And let's not forgot the lifetime vice presidents attending including Louis Bart, George DeMontrond, Dick Hudgins, Johnny Montalbano and Pam Springer.
