Where:Revival Market
The scoop: Houston Astros pitcher, Collin McHugh, and his wife, Ashley, welcomed a high-energy, VIP gathering of Houstonians to raise awareness for Urban Harvest, an organization that enriches the community by providing community garden programming, farmers markets, gardening classes, and youth education.
The group mingled and sampled food, wine, and whisky and later, bid on a special list of Astros-related auction items and experiences. Astros stars such as George Springer, Alex Bregman, and Jake Marisnick welcomed the congratulations and best wishes from the eager crowd as the team readies for a playoff run starting October 4. In all, the event raised $35,000.
The McHughs have made a commitment to helping provide good nutrition across their city and work with an organization providing programs to show people how to work together in the community gardens and to grow sustainable food. The event raised awareness and funds to continue to “Grow Good” for the city.
“Events like tonight allow us to bring awareness about the importance of access to fresh, local food in our city, whether that be in community gardens, school programs, farmers markets, or outreach classes,” said Janna Roberson, executive director of Urban Harvest.
Sponsors for the evening included Booster, a company that runs fundraising programs for elementary and middle schools with donations from Running Game Clothing, Karbach Brewing, Dirty & Rowdy Family Wines, and Whistle Pig Whiskey.
