The 411: On the New York Times best-seller list for six years for her memoir The Glass Castle, author Jeannette Walls shared her story of growing up in extreme poverty with the group that raised more than $200,000 for the non-profit that operates two pre-schools for disadvantaged children in the inner city. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence is producing a movie version of the memoir and plans to star it it as well.
Allison Crosswell, Carrye Krouse and Angela Lee chaired the event at which Walls talked of the effects of poverty and her emergence into a world of prosperity.Lisa Malosky emceed the luncheon.
