What: Space Center Houston's inaugural fall luncheon.

The scoop: The focus was on Space Center Houston’s Youth STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Academies for underserved youth with close to $200,000 raised for the program.
Applause, applause for chairs Janet and Harvin Moore and Alice and Keith Mosing who tapped Dr. Ellen Ochoa, astronaut and center director of NASA Johnson Space Center, and Kathy Lueders, program manager for the NASA Commercial Crew Program. The discussion focused on a possible mission to Mars with Space Center Houston president and CEO William T. Harris noting, “Those students could be among the first humans to set foot on Mars. What will it take to make a journey to Mars possible?"
KHOU Channel 11's new news anchor Russ Lewis served as emcee for the even that honored astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man on the moon.
