Ooh-la-la Luncheon
Fab fashionistas, led by Becca Cason Thrash, gather for Vogue/Louis Vuitton haute luncheon
Becca Cason Thrash was on a fashion high midday Thursday when she joined Vogue and Louis Vuitton in hosting an elegant luncheon in the posh Galleria boutique. Three dozen or so dressed-to-the-nines femmes poured in for haute socializing and a look at the fall/winter Louis Vuitton collection.
As boutique director Emily Paull explained, Vogue had offered to partner with Louis Vuitton on a special luncheon for a pride of fashion lionesses. New York headquarters decided that there were few more dedicated fashionistas anywhere other than in Houston. The magazine and the French luxury goods designer then tapped La Becca, long-time Louis Vuitton friend, to put together the guest list.
Vogue market stylist Cara Crowley flew in for the event that resembled something of a sorority reunion with air kisses flying and tales of summer travels exchanged by those just returning from exalted playgrounds including Aspen, Cal-a-Vie, and Paris.
Vivian Wise was still on a high from her trip as guest of Louis Vuitton to the shows in Paris. Yes, she is that good a customer. She recalled going to the Louis Vuitton shows with her grandmother decades ago, an experience that honed her devotion to the label.
Diane Lokey Farb, dressed head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton, shared recollections of her months abroad with destinations including Capri, London and Paris. Yet, much of the conversation centered on the Tuesday afternoon robbery at de Boulle jewelry store in River Oaks District.
Veuve Cliquot corks popped as City Kitchen staff swirled serving the ladies and sprinkling of gents as they were seated at two long tables, topped with profusions of pastel-hued dahlias.
Among those joining the party were Katie Brass, Lindley Arnoldy, Hallie Vanderhider, Terri Havens, Diane Lokey Farb, Dancie Ware, Barbara Gamson, Melissa Mithoff, Lisa Holthouse, Valerie Fuller, Tana Wood and Raquel Segal.
