Stylish Houstonian shows how to dress for fall when it's 100 degrees outside
The Neiman Marcus Trend Report cocktail party and fashion show presented a difficult task for Houston's fashion faithful: How do you dress to view a fall/winter collection when its 100-plus degrees outside?
Donae Chramosta, aka The Vintage Contessa, rose to the challenge by selecting pieces that are on trend, but lightweight and weather-appropriate. "I embraced the color block trend in my blouse," she said, referring to a multi-colored Trina Turk top she purchased at Tootsies, "and the fringe booties were a two-for-one," since they can be worn just about any season. She had found them at an estate collection from Chicago.
She paired the blouse with a kicky skort (a combination of skirt and short) from an Australian brand, The Fifth Label, at Baanou, and accessorized the outfit with an HermèsKelly Extreme crocodile cuff, Cartier Ballon Bleu watch and two Cartier Love bracelets from Times Past, and an a vintage Chanel necklace from her The Vintage Contessa website.
"I normally wear a ladylike vintage-inspired style with a bit of whimsy," Chramosta said, when asked to describe her style. "For the Fall Trends event I was feeling more sassy and trendy than normal and decided to take a risk and show a little leg. I love to add texture to each outfit: either feathers, fur, sequins or tulle. My texture in this ensemble was in the fringe. "
