Dwight Howard, Hakeem Olajuwon & Patrick Beverley party with doctors at an Aspen mansion
Gotta love those towering NBA stars who signed on with Memorial Hermann for a jaunt to Aspen aimed at spotlighting the hospital's orthopedic and sports medicine programs. Houston Rockets Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley were joined by NBA Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler for the unusual presentation.
Typically, these Colorado road shows for H-Town's medical entities focus on the docs rather than celebs. But surely these giants of the sports world commanded their share of attention as they gathered at the Rocky Mountain retreat of Houstonians Polly and Murry Bowden. Representing the Rockets' front officer were CEO Tad Brown and team trainer and veep of basketball operations Keith Jones.
Of course, the docs were on hand to spread the word on Memorial Hermann's commitment to the fields of sports medicine and orthopedics for people of all ages and abilities.
Leading the charge was orthopedic surgeon Dr. Walter L. Lowe. Among the medical experts joining him were Dr. Steve Flores and Memorial Hermann CEO Dan Wolterman.
More than 80 vacationing Houstonians turned out for the early evening cocktail reception including Nancy and Jim Gordon, Sheridan Williams, Barbara and Gerald Hines, Claudia and Fred Lummis, Sherry and Jim Smith, Steve Trauber, Kristen and Lee Nix, Patti and Mike Morgan, Gary Crum and Kathy and John Orton.
