Michael Trevino received the surprise of his life Friday night when his wife, Ileana, threw a birthday bash in his honor.

Even the stormy assault Friday night (remember the wind, the torrential rain, the brief power outages inside the Loop) couldn't put a damper on the fun at Tony's. Just ask Michael Trevino.

The government affairs consultant thought he was going to the swank eatery to surprise John Eddie Williams on his birthday. After all, he had seen the printed invitation. But when he and wife Ileana Trevino entered the San Remo Room, the surprise was on Michael. More than 70 of his nearest and dearest had gathered for the assault birthday bash.

Friends came in from across the country and across town for the multi-course feast that was interspersed with dancing to the sounds of songbird Julie Johnson and her musicians. Of course, John Eddie and Sheridan Williams were in on the surprise that was planned by Ileana and the Trevinos' children, Margo, Mari and Miguel. Tony Vallone provided the menu expertise that included those amazing flaming red snappers that received applause, ohs and ahs from the appreciative guests.

Raising glasses in toasts to the birthday were boy were Carol and Michael Linn, Sandy and Dr. Barney, Barrett, Kelli and Marty Fein, Debbie and Vidal Martinez, Betty and Manny Leal, Soraya and Scott McClelland, Patrice Ferguson and John Camp, Barry Mandel, Donna Vallone, Margaret Williams and Jim Daniel and Dr. Mary Riley and Bob Piro.

    Party time!

And you thought summer was going to be sleepy time in the city — wrong! Jared Lang, Cara Morales, Nancy Marcus Golden, Laura Casey and Johnny "V" Vassallo are shaking things up this Saturday night with a charity bash at Mo's . . . A Place for Steaks. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society benefits.

That cutie Johnny V has committed 10 percent of Mo's sales profits from that night and 20 percent from every bottle service to the cause. The fundraising includes a silent auction. Kicking the night action up a notch will be American Idol Eighth Season Top 10 finisher Michael Sarver.

Confirm your reservations by calling Mo's at 713-877-0720.

During one dinner evening at a private home, Suzanne regaled friends with reports on her international ballroom dancing competition and 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Saperstein's move to Spain to continue her world-class hunter/jumper competitions . . .

M.D. Anderson president Dr. John Mendelsohn and wife Anne having Memorial Day supper with Rice University Baker Institute director Edward Djerejian and wife Francoise at Backstreet Cafe, Diane and John Connally dining at a table nearby . . .

World Cup contender and Swedish football hottie Johan Wiland chowing down on serious protein at the Strip House with Channel 8's Ernie Manouse. Wiland, the goalkeeper for FC Copenhagen, joined Manouse and friends for dinner and a night on the town over the holiday weekend . . .

Patsy and Greg Fourticq enjoying a quiet farewell dinner with friends in the Men's Grill at River Oaks Country Club, where their son, Gregory Fourticq, hosted. The senior Fourticqs are off to their summer home in Colorado Springs where you can golf all summer without breaking a sweat.

It was pure Hollywood glam — minus the traffic on Sunset. More than 700 guests rolled into the Hilton Americas on October 17 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston’s annual Boo Ball, this year dazzling as A Silver Screen Soirée. Think Cruella with her spotted entourage, ghostbusters on patrol, and a squad of dodgeballers ready for action.

Event chairs Courtney Harmon and Laura Thompson transformed the ballroom into a mini Tinseltown where movie icons mingled with cocktail stars.

Awards season came early as Karen Labat accepted the Corporate Partner of the Year Award on behalf of Shell USA, Margie Esse was crowned Volunteer of the Year, and Christian Diaz earned the Founders Award.

The silent auction — curated by Nora Jarrard, Elizabeth Galante, Zainab Khuwaja-Ali, and Alma Rosa Winkel — offered prizes worthy of an Oscar afterparty, while Kristen Cannon’s raffle and Awards Draw kept spirits sky-high. But when Ronald McDonald himself took the stage, the room turned electric. In just five minutes, more than $110,000 poured in as guests raised paddles to fund new family rooms and a celebration bell for Holcombe House.

CEO Cristina Vetrano and board president Shannon Hayes shared heartfelt thanks before Hybrid 7 Band cranked up the energy, packing the dance floor until the final encore.

By night’s end, the blockbuster evening raised nearly $900,000 to help provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving care in the Texas Medical Center.

On the red carpet were Jennifer and Scott Allison, Chelsea Collmer, Laurie Sanders, Katie Tsuru, Julie and Stephen Chen, Michele and Bobby Marandi, Alice and JW Lodge, Kim and Scott Kazmir, Sarah and Grant Pinkerton, Emily Crosswell, Iryna and Ryan Herbst, Katherine Whaley and Chris Wadley, Seliece and Lee Womble, Emma and Seth Elsenbrook, Elyse and Drew Tolson, Marilyn Mogas, Gaye Lynn and Stuart Zarrow, Kate and Evan Elsenbrook, ZoAnn Dryer, Tiffany and Michael Gutierrez, and Cheryl and Stuart Brown.
