Guns and Partying
Guns and late-night partying add up to $750,000 in this very unique Child Advocates fundraiser
This mega fundraising effort began in the morning when 300 tournament shooters turned out at American Shooting Centers and continued into the evening with 650 Great Gatsby-style partygoers whooping it up at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. The full day of partying brought in more than $755,000 for Child Advocates.
The big shots joined the 22nd annual sporting clays "Pull for Kids" competition where Oasis Energy took top honors.
Leading the throng of costumed partygoers were "An Evening With Gatsby" chairs Cherie and Alan Hassenflu. They were accompanied in making the evening a success by committee chairs Jeff Birmingham, Bryan Boyer, Gill Cheesman, Stacey and Ron Chovanec, Eddy De Los Santos, Christine Gabriel, Bernadette Payne and Dolly Dawson Thomas.
The dinner dance honored Sheryl and Joel Androphy, long-time Child Advocates supporters. Sheryl has served as a court-appointed advocate for nine children. She serves on the board and is a lifetime member of Friends of Child Advocates. Since 2007, she has served as auction chair for the "Pull for Kids" fundraiser.
Puttin' on the ritz were Andrea and Eric Dulaney, April and Taff Weinstein, Tracy and Michael Eklund, Carrie and Dave Toller, Mary and Bill Livesay, Amanda and Jon Weeks and Kelly Goff.
