H-Town's The New Food Capital
It's official — Food & Wine magazine has fallen for Houston. Hard.
After recently naming Chris Shepherd one of the 10 best new chefs in the United States, the national publication calls the Bayou City "America's newest capital of great food." To back the rather lofty claim, magazine editor Kate Krader has listed her favorite dishes in the June issue, which is on newsstands now.
Though F&W didn't highlight Houston for its Best BBQ Cities roundup, Gatlin's Fatty Brisket made Krader's list thanks to a recommendation from Texas Monthly editor Daniel Vaughn, one of the key players in compiling that magazine's barbecue Top 50.
Other foodie faves made the grade as well, like the unforgettable Ham and Eggs at The Pass, which made notoriously fickle dining critic Steve Plotnicki's Top 100 in March.
