Members of Victory proved their mettle Saturday night as more than 1,000 made it to the Cattle Baron's Ball at the George Ranch in Richmond despite torrential rains, wind and lighting. In the process of the climatic bravery, this wing of the American Cancer Society raised $1.2 million for cancer research.
Long-standing traditions continued during the 25th annual fundraiser chaired by Lauri Gordon and Gigi Harbison. But a new twist on the western-flavored frolic was the addition of a "Time Travelers After Party" for those who didn't want to see the upbeat night end.
The crowd dressed to its best in fancy western attire on this night that no one would dare enter the party arena without boots and some semblance of cowboy chic. Consider the fashionable costuming of Susie Gold, Joni Ballis and Marsha Parker and the understated western trappings of Pam and Peter Jones and Wendy and Jeff Hines. Of course, standouts in the western fashion mode were KPRC Channel 2 news anchor Dominique Sachse and Nick Florescu.
The "Back to the Future"-themed evening including gaming tables, pig races, wine pull and live entertainment by the Josh Abbott Band, Louis Crappito and Doug Boggs and the Cowboy Jazz Band. Pappas Restaurants once again provided the bountiful buffet that included the ever-popular fried oysters, pork belly tacos, crab cakes, seafood campanchanas and loads more.
Two-stepping through the night were guests including Allie and Jay Fields, Nancy and Scott Atlas, Pam and Peter Jones, Margaret and T.J. Farnsworth, Roseann Rogers and Dr. Aashish Shah, Jody and Jeff Dyke, Mitchell Eads and Betti and Will Guzman.
