The Bush family welcomes renowned authors to cozy lunch in River Oaks mansion

The scoop: Featured authors, Jon Meacham, Brad Meltzer, and Kelly Corrigan were welcomed to the private event that annually takes place the day of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation fundraiser.
Former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush welcomed the 30 guests while Maria and Neil Bush, chairs of the Thursday night event, thanked the authors for their participation and the major donors for their fundraising assist.
Jackson and Company provided the southern/Texas inspired lunch of barbecued shrimp, grits, pecan crusted chicken, and Jackson's to-die-for strawberry shortcake.
