All That Glitters Is Gold
River Oaks District sets a new gold standard for partying at gilded soirée
River Oaks District has seen a score of dazzling store-opening parties since the curtain went up last fall on the luxe OliverMcMillan development on Westheimer. But none was more glittering, literally, than "The Gold Standard" bash that the developer hosted on Wednesday.
Think gold everything. Dazzling wall coverings, gilded swag bags, golden draped bars and Houston's grand dame Lynn Wyatt creating her own high wattage in a shimmering gold cocktail dress by Naeem Khan. Few would have realized that the venue for this first district-wide celebration was a bare bones space, located above Equinox.
On this night, Todd Events transformed the empty space (which will soon be a skin care salon) into a Midas-inspired tableau enriched by the H-Town glitterati that populated the scene. Picture Isabel David, Claire Cormier Thielke and Saba Jawda in their best party clothes and host Colin Moussa, ROD director of marketing, setting the fashion bar equally high.
"We really wanted to take the concept of River Oaks District's spring campaign," Moussa said, "and transfer it into this really beautiful experience that we thought our clients and customers would enjoy."
With A Fare Extraordinaire dishing up the party fare, DJ Dave Wrangler spinning the discs and David Bowie tribute band Space Oddity setting the night on fire, who wouldn't enjoy?
Happily embracing "The Gold Standard" concept were George Lancaster, Becca Cason Thrash, Dominique Sachse and Nick Florescu, Edward Sanchez, Jane and Ed Parker, Fady Armanious, Jo and Jim Furr, Karen and Denis Boulle, Todd Ramos, Carson Brown, Cara Barnhart, and Joyce Echols.
