Candlelighters young professionals raise record amount at Margarita Taste Off
What:Candlelighters Young Professionals Group’s 9th Annual Margarita Taste Off.

The scoop: After rain went away, glorious weather made it the perfect day to sample margaritas and appetizers from 20 Houston-area restaurants vying for the title of "Best Margarita." Top prizes as voted by those who attended went to El Tiempo Cantina, with Eight Row Flint in second place, The Palm taking third, and fourth going to Habanera & The Guero. Honorable mention went to La Fisheria, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Emma’s Mex Grill, and Beaver’s.
The Don Julio Critics Choice Awards, picked by a team of judges, were given to Emma’s Mex Grill and La Fisheria. More than 900 guests also enjoyed tunes spun by a DJ, a photo booth, a raffle and more.
The event brought in a record $70,000 for Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance, which provides emotional, educational, and practical support to children with cancer and their families in the the greater Houston area.
