While the month of May is usually high season for proms across the U.S., the big night came early for the young professionals chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Chairs Alex Dailey and Alston Edwards hosted over 175 guests at the nonprofit’s inaugural “The Big Prom: Benefiting Little Graduates” soiree, held at Heights-area apartment building Alexan Yale Street.
Decor by Vidrio Inspired Productions, including pops of the organization’s signature color of purple, shiny silver glitter and a sparkling disco ball, transformed the pool deck into dance party central as a DJ from LG Entertainment spun hit tunes from the '90s to now.
What’s a prom without a royal court? Michael Clinton, Brittany Metcalf and Grant Inman were crowned prom king, queen, and court, respectively, for their fundraising efforts, helping raise proceeds for the event via personal online donation pages.
Partygoers enjoyed bites from Anejo, Nothing Bundt Cakes and The Tasting Room, plus brews by Saint Arnold Brewing Company, late night slices from Frank’s Pizza, and snaps by Shutterbooth.
The evening benefited the Big Brothers Big Sisters, which provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star CEO Pierce Bush, Manon and Matt Kebodeaux, Ryan and Jessica McCauley, Earl and Denise Dailey, Andrew Flaniken, Bethany Meeks, Clark Fangmeier, Samantha Simpson, Leandra McLennon, Jay Guy, Rozi Turnbull, and Ellie Ronciman and more came out to show their support.
