Katy residents will welcome an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to the neighborhood in the spring of 2018. Known for creating theaters offering movie-goers booze and eats, including multi-course dinners, during a film, the national chain has announced plans for a new location in the final phase of development at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.
Alamo Drafthouse LaCenterra, a massive 37,000 square feet, is set to anchor the southeast side of the 34-acre mixed-used development, alongside an additional 7,500 square feet of retail space and a six-story parking garage. Expect eight auditoriums decked out with state-of-the-art 4k digital projection and digital surround sound, plush wide seats with ample legroom, and a layout that foregoes the traditional front row, eliminating craned necks from the experience.
The theater will also feature a bar and lounge area with an expansive selection of craft beers and handcrafted cocktails, and patio seating.
"The new Alamo Drafthouse LaCenterra location will allow us to provide our guests with an Alamo Drafthouse experience unlike anything they have experienced in the Houston-area,” Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen, president and CEO of Triple Tap Ventures LLC, the owner and operator of the Houston Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations, said in a statement.
"We will offer the same special events, menu offerings and no-talking policies that we are known for, but in a brand new, state-of-the-art movie theater,"
Alamo Drafthouse LaCenterra marks the company’s first new Houston-area location since closing Vintage Park in December. (The Vintage Park theater now is a Star Cinema Grill.) Alamo has plans to open four new Houston-area theaters, including one in Sugar Land and the Cinco Ranch venue.
Expect eight auditoriums decked out with state-of-the-art digital projection and surround sound, plus seats with ample legroom.
