Dallas Cowboys unveil plush world headquarters with VIP guided tours open to public

The Dallas Cowboys World Corporate Headquarters will open for tours in 2017.

Following the grand opening of The Star in Frisco in August, the Dallas Cowboys are finally, finally unveiling their World Corporate Headquarters to the general public with tours beginning January 9, 2017.

The Cowboys created their World Corporate Headquarters as a destination to allow fans to connect with the team in ways they have never imagined. Hmm. That makes the imagination run wild, doesn't it?

The VIP Guided Tour gives fans a chance to experience the place where the Dallas Cowboys train and work 355 days of the year. They only get 10 days off, they're just like us.

With small group sizes and additional tour stops, the VIP Guided Tours are the ultimate tour experience. Highlights include:

Ford Center: Ford Center at The Star is a state-of-the-art, 510,000-square-foot indoor athletic facility shared by the Dallas Cowboys, the City of Frisco, and Frisco ISD's high schools.

War Room: In 2017, the NFL draft will be conducted in this new state-of-the-art War Room, designed with superior technology and a fully interactive video wall.

Nike Star Walk: Sponsored by Nike, the Nike Star Walk is a collection of the 10 most significant milestones in Dallas Cowboys history, along with a display of the evolution of the team’s uniforms dating back to 1960. Possibly some Nike gear, too.

Super Bowl Memorabilia & Station: Find a complete collection of memorabilia from all five Super Bowl championships, including a display of all five Super Bowl trophies and rings from the years of 1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, and 1995.

Grand Atrium: The atrium boasts Italian marble floors, adorned with names and quotes of Dallas Cowboys players and coaches, as well as an LED sculpture by artist Leo Villareal called Volume Frisco (2016). This dancing LED display includes more than 19,200 white LED lights embedded in 160 40-foot-long stainless-steel mirrored rods hanging from the ceiling.

The tour runs 1 hour and 15 minutes, and includes 15 people at a time. There'll be 20 tours operating daily, every 30 minutes between 9 am-7 pm.

Tour stops may change to accommodate team practices, event bookings at Ford Center, and other parts of The Star, resulting in route changes.

Tickets are $32.50 for adults and $27.50 for kids, seniors, and those with a valid military ID.

Group tours for 10 or more are also available at $25 per person. Tours offered in Spanish and American Sign Language will be made available upon request.

Favorite Texas brewery opens on-site restaurant at new distillery

A rickhouse is a building for aging distilled spirits like whiskey.

Just over a year after K. Spoetzl Brewery opened its distillery, it's debuting a new onsite restaurant and tasting room. The maker of Shiner Beer recently opened Rickhouse at 603 E Brewery St., in Shiner — about two hours from downtown Houston.

The new restaurant will focus on Texas-inspired cuisine using local ingredients. That's on-brand for K. Spoetzl, which is known for its Texas pride and earthy nostalgia. Naturally, it will also show off the distillery's work in craft cocktails and it'll cater to visitors coming off a distillery tours.

The team is hitting the ground running, offering Sunday brunch, weekend lunch, and daily dinner.

Diners can expect to see common brewery dishes in a range of styles: a jumbo Bavarian pretzel and Spoetzl Sliders; pizzas, including a seasonal "street corn" pie with cotija cheese, roasted corn, Shiner Bock barbecue chicken, and elote seasonings; chicken fried steak; and old-fashioned meatloaf. For dessert, much has a boozy element, such as Famous CinnaShine Cobbler and a vanilla custard bourbon bread pudding.

On the beverage side, Rickhouse will serve up a French martini with Shiner Texas Vodka and its own in-house coffee liqueur; the Big Buck Hunter with Shiner Texas Gin; and the Liquid Peach Cobbler with Shiner Cinnamon ‘Shine.

The restaurant is part of a venue that spans 10,000 square feet, some of which will be used for live music and other events. The rest of the space contains a bar, a private dining room, and a 1,500-square-foot patio area.

“We’re incredibly proud to take this next step in Shiner’s story with the launch of our new restaurant and tasting room, Rickhouse,” said director of brewery and distillery operations Tom Fiorenzi in a press release. “Whether you’re here for a handcrafted spirit, a delicious meal, or just good conversation, we’re creating a space where tradition meets innovation in every pour and plate.”

Rickhouse will be open Mondays through Fridays from 4-10 pm, Saturdays from noon to 11 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm. Cocktails and light bites will be available weekdays from noon to 4 pm for people visiting to tour the distillery.
