Dallas, Houston, now Austin: Hotel ZaZa plans debut in Texas capital
Hotel ZaZa, one of Texas' most revered and innovative hotel brands, will soon bring its luxe boutique accommodations to downtown Austin.
The Austin American-Statesman has reported that "plans are in the works for a 24-story tower in downtown Austin that would have 215 luxury apartments atop a 160-room HotelZaZa." The space is located near Republic Square Park on West Fourth Street, between Guadalupe and Lavaca.
The development (still pending zoning approval) would mark Hotel ZaZa's first location in the Central Texas market. The premier boutique hotel, which was founded a decade ago in Dallas, also has a wildly successful hotel in Houston's Museum District.
"Finally we have found the right location at the right time to expand the Hotel ZaZa in the Austin market,” Charlie Givens, the brand’s founder and developer, told the newspaper. “Our customer base has wanted ZaZa to establish an Austin property for years. We are very excited about entering the downtown Austin market with this exciting concept.”
The space would also include luxury apartments, to be developed by Gables Residential. Construction on the mixed-use luxury living and lodging project is expected to begin in mid-2013.
The complex is anticipated to open in 2015, which also marks the opening of the JW Marriott, a 1,000-room hotel planned near the Austin Convention Center.
