Take the Wheel
A first-timer's guide to racing into Austin for Formula 1 weekend
Racing fans, get ready to earn your racing stripes. In just a few short weeks, Austin will welcome visitors from across the globe as Circuit of The Americas (COTA) showcases the greatest racing drivers in the world for the Formula 1 Pirelli 2018 United States Grand Prix, October 19-21.
Here's your chance to cheer on big names like Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Haas, and more by day, and be entertained by some of the biggest names in music by night, as musical icons Bruno Mars and Britney Spears are headlining the main stage.
Not quite sure how to get in on the fast-lane action, or attending Formula 1 for the first time? Here's a quick guide to the goods.
Tickets
Three-day tickets range from $189 to $595, as well as VIP options and special packages. All three-day USGP tickets include admission to a full weekend of high-octane F1 competition and the evening concerts on Saturday and Sunday. Single-day admission for Saturday and Sunday receives admission only to that day's F1 action and that night's concert.
Parking
There's limited parking onsite, but three-day parking passes are available starting at $100. Bikes can park free onsite, but if four wheels are your forte, your best bet is to opt for one of Austin's rideshare options.
Getting to the track
Beginning September 25, you can go online to learn more about and purchase tickets for the shuttle, which will run often from downtown to the track.
Music
On Saturday night, Grammy winner Bruno Mars performs on COTA's Super Stage. It's a unique setting that puts attendees right in the heart of the circuit to catch the singer's biggest hits. After Sunday's race, Britney Spears brings her bestselling Piece of Me live show to the stage, capping off the weekend with her catalog of hits. In addition, more than 20 Texas acts will perform throughout the weekend, including Love-Sadkid, Heartless Bastards' Erika Wennerstrom, Jakubi, Mayeux and Broussard, Nakia & the Blues Grifters, and more as part of the American Soundtrack.
Mini-racers
Cheer on the future generation of racers with the F1 Future Stars program. COTA Karting drivers aged 7-10 will stand alongside the 20 best drivers in the world for the national anthem before the seventh successive F1 race takes place on Sunday, October 21.
Immerse yourself
Don't miss a moment with F1 VISION, an immersive spectator technology that allows USGP attendees to enjoy an even richer experience with a state-of-the-art handheld device that provides stats, info, and more. Weekend rentals are $109.
