According to data for June 2012, which was released this week by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings, United ranks poorly in comparison to other U.S. airlines in four sections — flight delays, mishandled baggage, consumer complaints and animal loss, injury or death reports.

The Air Travel Consumer Report shows that, during June, United ranked last in on-time arrivals, with 70.1 percent of flights arriving on time at 81 reportable airports.

United ranked among the highest airlines for mishandled baggage reports, counting 4.90 reports per 1,000 passengers in June.
In that same month, 585 total passenger complaints were filed against United — 190 of those for flight problems, and 139 more for customer service issues. The next-highest was U.S. Airways, with 117 total complaints filed in the whole month.
United reported 11 in-flight animal issues in total, with two animal deaths cited; both complaints were redacted upon the performance of necropsies.
