The airport gets swanky: IAH adds valet parking, letting you rush to your flight
Running late for your flight? Tired of waiting for the bus at the private parking? Sick of tussling for a spot in the terminal garages?
There's now an option to have someone take care of the parking for you: On Monday, the Houston Airport System debuted Valet Premier Parking at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
Passengers can find valet drop-off locations inside each parking garage — at the ground level in the Terminal A/B garage, on level four of the Terminal C garage and on level two of the Terminal D/E garage — and can even arrange for pickup in a different terminal.
Valet costs $25 per day (compared to $17 per day for self parking in terminal garages).
Valet costs $25 per day (compared to $17 per day for self parking in terminal garages) in a partnership with USA Parking System, which specializes in high-end, service-oriented parking facilities.
"Houston is a growing, vibrant city with increasing air service and it is natural that we would increase our parking capabilities with the expansion of more international service," Mario Diaz, director of aviation for Houston Airports, said in a statement.
Mayor Annise Parker lauded the jobs that would be added at IAH with valet parking in her own statement.
The Houston Airports have also deployed customer service agents on golf carts to assist self-parkers with parking space finding, luggage-handling and miscellaneous vehicle services.
The Valet Premiere Parking option will launch at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) once garage renovations have been completed later this year.
