Travels to China are about to get easier with a nonstop route between Houston's George Bush Intercontinental and Beijing Capital International Airport. The Houston Chronicle reported that Council Member Andrew Burks "spilled the beans" about the new service on Wednesday.
But Burks is actually a little late to the party.
Air China made an internal announcement about the route in December, and Routes Online confirmed the service earlier this week.
That publication notes that the four-times-weekly service is set to begin on July 11, 2013, and will initially take place on a Boeing 777-300ERs, with possible future service on a 787 Dreamliner.
"We are dotting the I's and crossing the T's," Mayor Annise Parker told reporters about the impending agreement. Parker has been looking to add nonstop service from Houston to China for years. "I'm not ready to talk about it today because it's not fully baked."
