Billionaire Tilman Fertitta might have had his doubters when he broke ground on the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles but today he officially proves them wrong by announcing a 300-room expansion of the luxe gambling casino, an obvious nod to its success.
Work has already begun on the new hotel tower located south of the resort-style swimming pool. It is expected to open by the end of this year.
As Fertitta noted at the ribbon cutting of the fifth Golden Nugget casino resort in December of 2014, "Not even in Vegas on The Strip do you have two properties (L'Auberge Casino Resort is next door) that have golf courses and beaches and marinas and great casinos. The state of Louisiana has the most unique gaming opportunity in America right here."
The Golden Nugget addition is designed with the same esthetics as that of the original 740-room property, $700 million property. Tower rooms will measure in at 500 square feet with oversized bathrooms featuring double sinks, separate water closet, walk-in shower and extra large tub.
