Olympic stud Michael Phelps shotguns a beer, parties with 8 women at high-endHouston restaurant
"Just saw a Michael Phelps shotgun a beer at this fine dining establishment," a friend announced on Facebook late Friday night. A text from his sister confirmed that they had spotted the decorated Olympic swimmer at Underbelly.
I felt somehow responsible, just last week suggesting that they impress their out-of-town parents with reservations at Chris Shepherd's restaurant — the fried bycatch and the Wagyu tenderloin carpaccio blew mine away on a recent visit.
The restaurant made a subtle reference to Phelps' presence:
Working toward a gold medal finish tonight, bar open til 2am.Feels great outside and in! #ubwinebar
— Underbelly (@UnderbellyHOU) December 15, 2012Local sports radio show host Lance Zierlein apparently saw him, too:
Michael Phelps is here at Underbelly and I am not kidding with you when I tell you it is him and 7 girls. #MedalCountBaller
— Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) December 15, 2012Phelps was allegedly celebrating a birthday with the group, which included Houston-based television host, actress and model Maggie Flecknoe, who called the Olympic swimmer "an athlete and a gentleman." (To be fair to Phelps, it looks more like eight women than seven in the photo tweeted out).
A golden night in #houston with #michaelphelps #underbelly #olympian instagr.am/p/TRsi59Ee0J/
