Former University of Houston standout Case Keenum has gone from NFL journeyman to hero.

Despite being constantly ruled out, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum continues to make a name for himself in the NFL.

The former University of Houston standout threw for 19, 217 yards and 155 touchdown passes in college. He currently holds the NCAA passing record. Even so, the Abilene, Texas, native didn't get drafted, but that hasn't stopped him from landing in the NFL.

Keenum, 29, bounced back and forth between the Houston Texans, and the now Los Angeles Rams, for four seasons before landing with the Minnesota Vikings.

Now he's headed to the NFC Championship Game, and, if the Vikings win that, the Super Bowl.

Here's a look back at the former Houstonian's journey through the NFL:

May 14, 2012: Houston Texans sign Keenum as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston. He was released that August before being signed to the practice squad on September 1, 2012.

January 14, 2013: Keenum is re-signed to the Texans, spending his entire rookie season on the practice squad.

October 20, 2013: Made his first career start at Kansas City after starter Matt Schaub gets injured.

August 31, 2014: The Texans waive Keenum to make room for Ryan Mallett. Keenum is claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams the next day.

October 28, 2014: Keenum is waived by the St. Louis Rams. The Rams bring him back just two days later, re-signing to the practice squad.

December 15, 2014: The Texans sign Keenum off the Rams practice squad.

December 21, 2014: Keenum leads the Texans to a 25-13 win over Baltimore Ravens, Keenum's first start of the season.

March 11, 2015: The Rams reaquire Keenum from the Texans in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2016.

November 16, 2015: Keenum is named the starting quarterback for the Rams in Week 11.

April 18, 2016: The now - Los Angeles Rams sign Keenum to a one-year deal worth roughly $3.6 million.

November 15, 2016: Rams bench Keenum for rookie Jared Goff and Keenum is allowed to leave in the offseason.

March 31, 2017: Keenum signs one year deal worth $2 million with Minnesota Vikings after spending two seasons with the Rams. Keenum starts 14 of 15 games for the Vikings, helping them clinch the NFC North division.

January 14, 2018: He leads the Vikings to a 29-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints after connecting with wide receiver Stefon Diggs on the final play of the game.

Astros and Rockets finally launch streaming service for Houston sports fans

Houston sports fans finally have a way to watch their favorite teams without a cable or satellite subscription. Launched Wednesday, December 3, the Space City Home Network’s SCHN+ service allows consumers to watch the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets via iOS, Apple TV, Android, Amazon Fire TV, or web browser.

Available at SCHNPLUS.com, a subscription to SCHN+ allows sports fans to watch all Astros and Rockets games as well as behind-the-scenes features and other on-demand content. It’s priced at $19.99 per month or $199.99 annually (plus tax). People who watch Space City Network Network via their existing cable or satellite service will be able to access SCHN+ at no additional charge.

As the Houston Chronicle notes, the Astros and Rockets were the only MLB and NBA teams not to offer a direct-to-consumer streaming option.

“We’re thrilled to offer another great option to ensure fans have access to watch games, and the SCHN+ streaming app makes it easier than ever to cheer on the Rockets,” Rockets alternate governor Patrick Fertitta said in a statement. “Providing fans with a convenient way to watch their favorite teams, along with our network’s award-winning programming, was an essential addition. This season feels special, and we’re committed to exploring new ways to elevate our broadcasts for Rockets fans to enjoy.”

Astros owner Jim Crane echoed Feritta’s comments, adding, “Providing fans options on how they view our games is important as we continue to grow the game – we want to make it accessible to as large an audience as possible. We are looking forward to the 2026 season and more Astros fans watching our players compete for another championship.”

SCHN+ is available to customers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and the following counties in New Mexico: Dona Ana, Eddy, Lea, Chaves, Roosevelt, Curry, Quay, Union and Debaca. Fans outside these areas will need to subscribe to the NBA and MLB out-of-market services.

The announcement couldn’t have come at a better time. Spurred by its offseason signing of superstar Kevin Durant and second-year guard Reed Sheppard, the Rockets are off to a strong, 13-5 start to the season that’s has them currently ranked third in the Western Conference.

The Astros are looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs in 2025. The experts at the Stone Cold Stros podcast predict the team will looking to add pitching to bolster its prospects for 2026.
