Dwight Howard's Breakfast Adventure
Dwight Howard hits a local breakfast restaurant, opens up his wallet — and shows he really knows Houston
In many ways, this is the first full day of Dwight Howard's new life in Houston. Sure, the game-changing center cannot sign his four-year $88 million deal until Wednesday and he can't be officially paraded out by the Rockets till then either.
But Howard's in town and very much out and about. He's already been interviewed at the airport for Fox 26's Mark Berman, practically a Houston athlete right of passage. More importantly, Howard's shown he already knows plenty about the city he spurned LA for, the land which a bitter Shaquille O'Neal dismissed as "a little town."
For where does Dwight Howard go for a late breakfast in his first morning (he flew in Monday evening) in town?
He hits the Breakfast Klub, the Houston institution of long lines and great comfort food, and orders the grits. And then pays for everyone else's meal in the place.
If that's not a Houstonian, what is?
Howard went to the Midtown restaurant with longtime Rockets trainer Keith Jones and retired NFL running back Derrick Ward, a former Texan. He posed for pictures with a few fans and seemed very relaxed by all Twitter reports. It's almost like he's . . . home.
