Historic homes holiday bash makes time travel a reality — and a top chef goes along for the fun
What:The Heritage Society's first-ever "An Evening of Heritage" holiday celebration.
Where: In a party tent located in Connally Plaza, adjacent to the historic homes of Sam Houston Park.
The 411: Upping the holiday ante, The Heritage Society inaugurated a holiday fundraiser with the evening that featured University of Houston Honors College history professor C. Orson Cook. The professor escorted the 130 dinner guests through a time travel adventure, visiting Houston from 1880 to 1920 as it emerged from town to city.
Reef chef Bryan Caswell and his team prepared a four-course dinner and Caswell was on hand to introduce each course.
Key to the evening's success were Heritage Society board members Townes Pressler Jr. and Mark Worscheh, who chaired the event that raised $155,000.
