Over the past four years the Annual Holiday Charity Luncheon hosted by Pratham USA has grown to be the most fashionable Indo American charity event of the year. More than 200 gathered at The Junior League of Houston for this year's event, "Fashioning the Future," which spotlighted Christian Dior styles from Saks Fifth Avenue.
Houston writer Katherine Center, author of Everyone is Beautiful, was the keynote speaker.
Event chairs Asha Dhume and Rema Damodaran were thrilled that the luncheon broke records by raising over $100,000 in one afternoon for Pratham USA, a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged children in India with pre-school and primary education with the goal to eradicate illiteracy.
On hand for the festivities: Manisha Mehta, Latika Bathija, Leena and Ash Shah, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Payal Channa, Sandhya Ayyar, Sonu Anand, Sangeeta Pasrija, Raj Patel, Rachel Varghese, Priti Singh and Pratham Houston Chapter President Swatantra Jain.
