Bubba McNeely's holiday party draws singers from Houston and Nashville forannual tunefest
About six years ago, Bubba McNeely of the popular duo Bubba and Greg decided to gather his professional singer friends for a holiday party where everyone took the opportunity to gather around the baby grand piano and belt out a tune or two.
The party has become a Houston tradition in singing circles. McNeely, Mark Lowry and Dena Davidson co-hosted this year's edition, welcoming more than 100 of their nearest and dearest friends to a palatial home in near north Houston for the sing-a-thon.
McNeely opened the evening with "Silent Night" and "White Christmas," while Lowry followed with the holiday standard, "Mary Did You Know?" Lowry wrote the lyrics to the tune, which has been recorded by 140 top artists, including Reba McEntire, Natalie Cole, The Oak Ridge Boys, Donny Osmond and, most recently by Cee Lo Green (on his Christmas album, Cee Lo's Magic Moment).
The entertainment also included songs from singer/producer Chip Davis, who flew in from Nashville for the party, Kai Hicks, Jason DeMarco and Ken Gayle.
Getting into the Christmas spirit were guests including Tena Faust, Tama Lundquist, Shannon Hall, Rob Rutherford, Debbie Festari, Nancy Marcus Golden, Holly Waltrip and Mike Long, John Evatz, Ernie Manouse, Jackson Hearn, Jared Lang andMaryam Afshari.
