Tracking the hottest holiday parties in Houston: From T.J. Yates to fashionhotties, everyone's merrily out and about
Tis the season and all over town the social swells are feeling jolly and celebrating with parties, parties, parties. Probably none in recent days was prettier than that hosted by Terrie and Mike Turner in their Tanglewood swankienda.
Few decorate more beautifully for the holidays than the Turners, making it a visual treat for friends of the University of Texas School of Public Health at UTHealth, who were at the top of the guest list. Mingling in the mix and talking up the school with the heavy-duty social crowd were faculty members and student ambassadors.
Special guest at the wine tasting evening was Mike Biaggi from Plumpjack of Napa, who shared his offerings from PlumpJack and Cade wineries. Brasserie 19 catered, providing such mouth-watering appetizers as duck roulette and quail skewers.
Soaking in the holiday surroundings were UT School of Public Health dean Dr. Roberta Ness, Cathy Brock, Andrea White, David Mincberg and Lainie Gordon, Celina Hellmund, Kathy and John Orton, Lan Bentsen, Dr. Monica Rasmus and Cindy and Dave Petratis.
Bejeweled and bedazzled
That would be the crowd that poured through Zadok Jewelers last week for the annual holiday party that doubled as a 35th anniversary celebration and a charitable fundraiser. Raffle tickets were sold to benefit the Joshua & Robin Berry Children's Trust Fund.
In addition to swooning over the glittering offerings, guests could mingle with representatives from such famous houses as Breitling, Roberto Coin, Dominique Cohen, Bedat Watches and Melissa Braniff.
The entire Zadok family was on hand to welcome guests beginning with store founders Helene and Dror Zadok and including their sons and daughters-in-law, Gilad and Lisa Zadok, Segev and Amy Zadok and Jonathan Zadok.
Partygoers included Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith and wife Tiffany, Katie Brass, Vanessa and Tony Sanchez, Tama Klosek, Kara Howes, Cindy and Zak Elgamal and Jackie and Dr. Toan Nguyen.
A holiday fashion fling
The Little Bird, the new kid on the vintage clothing block, opened its doors to a merry crew which raised funds for Camp for All while celebrating the holidays and learning about the finer points of previously-owned designer pieces. Store owner Keele Loyd, in from home base in Aspen, offered tips on how to mix and match vintage pieces for a special holiday look. (Her fave holiday accessory — a Judith Leiber minaudiere.)
The evening was chaired by Heritage Texas Properties CEO Robin Mueck, Jaclyn Mueck, Kara Mueck and Jana Canfield.
Checking out the designer bargains were guests including Susie Criner, Annie Criner, Gwen Francis, Phyllis Childress, Helen Perry, Jamie Honeycutt and Jillian Rogers.
Eco-friendly fashions
The runway was filled with them during One Green Street's "EcoMod" fashion event at the Buffalo Speedway boutique, where Benjy Levit introduced the fare from his new Local Foods in the Rice Village and where Neal Hamil models strutted their stuff in vintage pieces from Marci Rosenberg's collection and in "reconstructed" vintage looks from New York designer Bridgett Artise.
One Green Street owner Sherry Eichberger hosted the event that drew close to 100 ladies intrigued by the eco and vintage concept. PaperCity's Catherine Anspon, a vintage collector, emceed the event attended by Dottie Maggio, Jenny Segal, Lauren Harrison, Yuliana de la Rosa, Mark Horn, Christina Sharp, Leslie Sharp, Kristine Mills, Erica Levit, Kimber DeLape and Donae Cangelosi.
