Magical Million Dollar Evening
Hospital receives $1.7 million from Texas Children's Ambassadors at gorgeous holiday party
In one of the biggest holiday giving moments of the year, Texas Children's Ambassadors presented a $1.7 million check to the hospital's CEO Mark Wallace Wednesday nightduring one of the most beautiful parties of the year.
Close to 500 guests arrived at the River Oaks home of Marita and JB Fairbanks to join the annual holiday soirée, typically held in a dreamy party tent at a private home. Tradition also holds that the tent is dressed to the nines in holiday finery. This year that meant reams of green and white in terms of white Tivoli lights, fir garlands and white Christmas trees lighted by rustic wooden chandeliers.
Swift + Co. did not only the decorating but also the cooking for the lavish buffet that included beef tenderloin, roast duck, lobster bisque and a fresh oyster bar.
With funds raised from contributions made throughout the year, the Fairbankses presented the mega check to Wallace. The dollars are earmarked for the Promise Campaign, created to support the hospital's expansion in the Texas Medical Center.
Partygoers danced to the tunes of the Divisi Strings Amp’d String Quartet, mingled and sipped on made-to-order martinis.
Among them were Leigh Anne and John Raymond, Helen and Dr. Charles Fraser, Nancy Gordon, Jan Duncan, Lilly and Thurmon Andress, Gina and Dr. Devinder Bhatia, Jennifer and David Ducote and Staci and John Donovan.
