The sounds of ABBA kept 'em dancing all night long at Stehlin gala
The Friends of the Stehlin Foundation continued its long-standing tradition on Saturday night of inspiring dancing queens (and kings) with not one but two show bands that had the Westin Galleria ballroom pulsating throughout the evening.
For this 30th-anniversary celebration, organizers brought in Adbacadabra, an ABBA tribute band, from Las Vegas to lead off the '70s-inspired bash. Mood enhancers on every table included tambourines, feather boas, light-up glasses, glow sticks and mood rings. Disco balls twirled overhead and bouquets of feathers added whimsical decorative notes. Playing all the Mama Mia faves, the band cranked up after dinner.
That inspiring musical sensation was followed by Band X, a nine-piece party band from Atlanta. It was dance, dance, dance.
Before the dancing fun, KPRC Channel 2 news anchor Dominique Sachse did the honors as emcee for the evening that honored long-time Stehlin Foundation supporters Lindy and John Rydman. Joining the Rydmans in the spotlight were gala chairsBecca and Phillip Weigand and Tamara and Harrison Bibb.
Would-be ABBA groupies included Sally and Bobby Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Marianne and Bob Ivany, Travis Goff, Keith Pettibon, Sarah Strohmeyer, Tom Broughton, Amy and Jeff Kappes, Elan Rogers and Colleen and Kyle Colton.
