To say that the party animals howled at Hotel ZaZa Halloween night would be something of an understatement.
The feral pack of 500 costumed creatures fairly rioted through the hotel's Monarch Restaurant and adjacent party rooms. Think rugby scrum, Trocadero Ballet and Dante's Inferno all rolled into one zany night.
"Wig Out" was the theme of the riotous party that put UNICEF, the night's beneficiary, on the map for a whole new crowd of potential supporters. Consider the host committee— Monsour Taghdisi, Kimberly DeLape, Susan Plank, Mark Sullivan, Sylvia Forsythe and Stuart Rosenberg, to name a few.
Pirates of the Caribbean lead Jack Sparrow, a personal favorite, seemed to be the costume of choice for a number of dashing caballeros including Pershant Mehta, accompanied by wife Nidhika who forcefully denied that she was either a witch or a gypsy.
Diane Lokey Farb was tops in creativity — dressing as a Mini-Me version of DJ Lady Bunny. Mini Me, indeed. Lady Bunny is a towering hulk of a "gal" with voluminous wig. The petite Lokey Farb complemented her spangled gold Chanel dress costuming with over-sized blonde wig, gargantuan eye lashes and more enthusiasm than a lady ought to have past midnight.
The characters came in every imaginable mode — Steven Wagner as the intersection of Kirby and Westheimer, George Lancaster as a gladiator, Bo Hopson as Elvis, Donna Speer as a witch, Rudy Festari as a gangster (wearing a pinstripe suit straight from his store) and on and on.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose dressed as a "nose," his head topped with a protruding snout, another probiscus protruding from the front of his T-shirt. We're not certain of wife Cindi Rose's character. Let's just say she was a saucy dish.
In the mix — Cartier's John Evatz in from New York, Tami Ernst, Dr. Penelope Gonzalez and Lester Marks, Meghan Thrash, Carmen Maria and Dr. Alex Lechin, Terry Zmyslo and Gabriela and Daniel Dror.
