FBI agent reels in the bad guys at Alley Theatre's Wild Things dinner
Any evil players that might have had an inclination to attend the Alley Theatre's Wild Things benefit at the Coronado Club, were wise to skip Tuesday night's men-only fundraiser. Guest speaker Brian Rasmussen, supervisory special agent for the FBI's domestic terrorism squad (Houston office), entertained the gents with the finer points of "Reeling in the Bad Guys," as his speech was titled.
Jonathan Finger and Dennis Murphree chaired the dinner that was attended by 120 black-tie attired Alley patrons and netted more than $200,000.
In a twist on the evening and a tribute to the speaker, attorney Vidal Martinez stood and led a toast to the men and women who serve in the FBI. Among those raising their glasses were Meredith Long, Scotty Arnoldy, Ed Jones, John Schiller and Bo Hopson.
Adding a feminine touch to the proceedings were models parading in costumes fashioned after a classic Old Spice ad featuring fly fishing.
As is tradition with this evening, the menu gives a nod to manly appetites. Guests on this night feasted on Big Eye tuna, beef medallions with quail eggs, lobster spoons with grated foie gras, honey-lacquered duck and sautted sea bass over braised oxtail.
Chowing down on the lavish spread were Alley fans including Jesse Marion, Butch Mach, Steve Mach, Scott McCool, Hugh Echols, Joe Davis, Phil John, Bill Porter, Nic Phillips and Dean Gladden, Alley managing director.
