Jeans & Jewels: Blockbuster gala pulls in nearly $1 million in a starry Woodlands night
It was a record night for the 15th annual Jeans & Jewels Gala benefiting Northwest Assistance Ministries with proceeds surpassing $830,000, a windfall prompting NAM president and CEO Carole Little to comment, "I think we're all still floating on air a bit."
For this blockbuster gala, the ballroom of the The Woodlands Waterway Marriott was dressed to the hilt in bejeweled, western-themed finery. The Texas-meets-Gatsby decor shimmered in red, black and silver with soaring glass bead centerpieces on an evening that had been a year in the planning by chairs Margie Crump and Jackie Riley and their volunteer committee.
The evening honored one of The Woodlands' most philanthropic-minded couples, Judy and Glenn Smith, who have supported NAM since its early days.
Fox 26 News anchor Melissa Wilson served as emcee for the event that attracted a crow of 600, many of whom dressed in western glitz in a nod to the Jeans & Jewels theme.
Among guests keeping time to the tunes of the Spiffingtons were Connie and Larry Stick, Courtney and David Cook, Barbara and Bob Watson, Pat Riley, Rick Crump, Tom and Darliss Fuller, Noelle and Davis Jahncke and Coco and Kelly Mahoney.
