Molly Ringwald rocks 'em in Houston: This lunch is on center stage
It was a feel good day all around when Molly Ringwald took the stage at Jones Hall along with a fashionable pride of Society for the Performing Arts supporters for the SPA's annual fall luncheon. The actress/singer/author impressed with her story of growth from teen star to mother to jazz performer.
And playing to the audience, she stressed the importance of the performing arts in education, a nod to SPA's education and outreach programs to which proceeds from the luncheon were directed.
Melissa and Michael Mithoff chaired the fundraiser that honored his mother, Ginni Mithoff, a long-time SPA supporter. She was presented the Ann Sakowitz Performing Arts Advocate Award.
For the annual on-stage event, Rebekah Johnson of Bergner & Johnson worked her party design magic while Jackson and Co. provided the sustenance.
Celebrating the $180,000 in proceeds were SPA CEO June Christensen, board chair Melanie Gray, Richard Mithoff, Lynn Wyatt, Liz and Tom Glanville, Millette Sherman, Katie and Harry Cullen, Rocky Mafrige, Rosemarie Johnson, Phoebe Tudor and Courtney Hopson. All eyes were temporarily on Robert Sakowitz who was accompanied by colorful designer Zandra Rhodes.
