The ultimate do-good birthday: Fashionable duo rocks a Galleria boutique, lures hot bloggers for fab benefit
When Mandy Kao and Nihala Zakaria began celebrating their birthdays together in 2012, they launched a tradition of fashion, frolic and philanthropy that continued earlier this week in BCBGMaxAzria in the Galleria.
With more than 200 stylish guests, it was ka-ching, ka-ching for two charities, beneficiaries of 15 percent of sales during the party. The chosen non-profits were Linking the World, an international humanitarian aid organization, and the Mandy Kao Foundation, which provides funding for after-school programs in low-income neighborhoods.
“Birthdays are such a special occasion, but they are even more meaningful when we can make a difference in people’s lives," Kao said. "That’s why we started doing this, and we were so grateful to have BCBGMaxAzria join us in celebrating giving back."
In addition to shopping the racks, the evening fun included a fashion show of styles modeled by seven of H-Town's top fashion bloggers — Issa Chou and Fifi Phi of WeWearThings.com, Katy Atlas of SugarLaws.com, Monica Abney of Classy & Fabulous, Leigh Evans of GirlAroundTown.net, Magen Pastor of MagenPastor.com and Madmoiselle MoNi of FashionandFabulous.us.
After celebrating, guests picked up swag bags that included BCBGMaxAzria scarves and notebooks.
Fashionistas included Chloe Dao, Jared Lang, Sameera Faridi, Sydney Dao, Cindi Rose, Yasmine Haddad, Ashley Small, Donae Chramosta, Sippi Khurana, Karina Barbieri and Habiba Dhanani.
