Pope Francis biography draws respectful throng to a surprise French chapel in River Oaks
What: Book signing for Pope Francis and the New Vatican.
Where: The River Oaks home of Terri and John Havens.
The 411: The Havens hosted the event, a fundraiser for the I Am Waters Foundation, that centered on the aged chapel they had brought in piece by piece from France and reassembled in their garden adjacent to the River Oaks Country Club golf course. Houston native and author Robert Draper, perched in the chapel, signed copies of his new book with more than 400 selling as the 120 guests scooped up inscribed copies for gift-giving.
Draper shared entertaining stories on his research for the National Geographic coffee table book.
Good Catholics Phyllis and Tony Mandola provided the party fare from their nearby namesake restaurant.
