A major doctor steps up and speaks out on autism in Houston as a new non-profit takes center stage
What:KNOWAutism launches its mission to aid children with autism.

The 411: The non-profit, founded in April of last year byTammy Tran Nguyen, is dipping its feet into the fundraising arena with its first gala, set for Feb. 12 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The recent gathering served to introduce the gala chairs — Perri Kay Palermo and Dr. Sippi Khurana — to a group that included medical and community leaders. Co-hosting the event with Nguyen were board directors Chase Oelkers, Chris Cardenas and Wayne Nguyen.
The goal of KNOWAutism is to raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder and to serve as a resource for families affected by the condition. Outreach is particularly targeted to communities where language barriers could affect diagnosis and treatment.
