They love their animals and love to party, too: Pet Set takes over Hotel ZaZa —only one fur coat allowed
"Every single dollar we raise goes to the animals." And with that statement from Pet Set board president Pam Radford, the live auction bidding began in the ballroom of Hotel ZaZa at the annual "Fierce & Fabulous Soirée."
Last year, Pet Set donated $75,000 to under-funded animal support groups across the region and didn't spend a penny on administrative costs as this group of animal lovers is strictly volunteer. Even auctioneer Jeff Smith donated his resonant services for the fundraiser.
Close to 225 cocktail-attired friends of furry creatures perused the silent auction offerings, grazed through the buffet stations and bellied up to the bars. DJ Dan spun the discs that had the dance floor crowd gyrating.
Tucker Vittor was the only guest allowed to get away with wearing fur. The 2-year-old Great Pyrenees was stunning his coat of thick white fur and captured the lion's share of the night's attention, making Liz Vittor a very proud pooch owner.
Friends of the four-legged world included Pet Set board member Tim Moloney, floral and party designer Rebekah Johnson, jewelry designer J Landa and partner architect Daniel Turner of Austin, Rob Rutherford, John Evatz, Tena Lundquist Faust, Tama Lundquist, Kathryn Smith, Norelle and Brian Becker, Pet Talk magazine editor Michelle Mantor and artist Kermit Eisenhut, who donated a pet portrait to the live auction.
