Back to the high life again: Houston House renovation celebrated at previewparty
More than 200 guests enjoyed the high life Thursday night while celebrating the $10 million modern makeover of Houston House, the iconic ‘60s apartment building in downtown Houston.
They hopped between four showcase units in the 31-story high-rise that had undergone extreme makeovers by Houston designers Chris Nyguen, Kristen Johnson, Richard Sanchez and Saba Jawda. The units will be open to public tours Sunday from 1-5 p.m., Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., and Oct. 1-2 from 1-5 p.m.
They also gathered on the pool deck, with great views of downtown Houston, to sip Orange Blossom martinis, knosh on dumplings in red take-out boxes from Gigi’s Asian Bistro and Sprinkles cupcakes and listen as Mid-Life Crisis and The Hot Flashes played ‘60’s rock-n-roll in keeping with the Mad Men theme. (Houston House originally opened in 1966.)
Seen in the crowd: Houston House owner Larry Hill and general manager Tricia Wright welcoming Andrew Huang, Michael Mandola, Mark and Cindi Judson, C.C. Conner, Matt Reeves with Marcela Mejia, Selim and Sheren Jawda, Claire and Aaron Shisler and Jennifer Mire.
